The character of John Thomas in “Tickets,Please” story.
One of the important element in a story is its characters.Therefore,any story depends on them and needs them in order to be complet.Which means,they play an important part inside it.Apart from their role to creat the events.That is why I have selected this element to discuss about Also, I will not embark on all the characters of « Tickets,Please »story.So taht I will talk only about “John Thomas” .So who is Thomas John?What is his role inside the story ?Thus Let us knock the door in order to know him very well
At first there are no grey heads because everybody in that tram service is young.There if you meet a young has a ruddy face,a small brown moustache, tall and agile,besides,his faint impudent smill, be sure he is ,simply,John Thomas.If want to know him well , ask his impudence,rudeness ,frivolity, and naughteness.If you do so ,you will
Find him out and ,of course, work him out ,too.His good-looking makes him suspects that he can play his silly game with girls easely !
He flirts with them ,scoffs at them ,and laughs at them.Also,he is an inspector ,whereas they are conductor.Also,he thinks that girls are just
A sex subject.But why he thinks so ?
Other thing,John Thomas differs from his peers because most of them went to the war ,but he did not.So that ,I am surprise why he does not praticipate in the war.Besides, he has no serious handicap.Conversly, he is young, strong and has good-looking.In the
Light of what it has said, I think there are many reasons explain John Thomas reluctance to go to the war .The first one is that John Thomas believes that he is still young to go to the war.Thus,why he ,according to him,has to give his life for a lunitic idea such as « a war ».
From that we descover the phsycological side of our character.He does not believe in something calls sacrifice for country,he just beleives in this moment and his own pleasure.Here, I start to touch John Thomas , feel him , and understand him.Really,he wants to live his day as much as possible,this is ,may be , his nature ,which makes him rude and impudent towards the girls .Otherwise, he is careless.
Also, I am venturing to say that his envirnement,that he lives within ,makes him gallous and careless ,how ?You just have to imagin a young teen-ager works alone between six girls !!Besides, his society,at that time, has not accepted a worker woman yet !Let us face it ,what should he do in that situation ? I think ,after all what I have written,he had no choice and again I’m venturing to say that he is under construction-he is a teen-ager-and ,unfortunatly,he thouth that relationship is just a game between girls and boys .On the other hand ,the girls were not serious ,too,except Annie.I mean , if they gave him up early,he would stop .But when Annie loved him seriously and he left her ,she revenged herself on him .This is the reason why he has selected her when they attacked him and ordered him to chose one girle of them why ? Becasue she was ,may be, more seriouse than the others.
Finaly, I know my opinion is unusuall,but let me say ,between you and me, that is what I have understood from « Tickets ,Please »story about my friend Thomas John ,whom I find him not guilty.Again you and I ought to read the story again anda gain in order to understand its characters very well.Here I can say thank you for reading my essay and see you soon God willing.
